Catherine Reade focuses her practice on civil litigation and specializes in real estate litigation and medical malpractice defense. Catherine is licensed to practice in both the state of Missouri and the Eastern and Western Federal District Courts. Catherine earned her BBA in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998 and her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Texas Tech School of Law in 2001.
In 2006, Catherine Reade was a recipient of the Springfield Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award. She was named one of three recipients of the Missouri Bar Association’s Lon O. Hocker Award for 2012, which is an annual award to young lawyers who have demonstrated unusual proficiency in the art of trial advocacy. This year, Catherine has received both the Martindale-Hubble Client Distinction Award and the Missouri Lawyers Weekly Women’s Justice Rising Star Award. Since joining Haden, Cowherd & Bullock, L.L.C. in 2004, Catherine has tried 58 bench trials and 16 jury trials. She has defended eleven medical malpractice cases, of which, nine were named in Missouri Lawyers Weekly Top Defense Verdicts. In 2009, Catherine was named Second Winningest Defense Lawyer in the year 2009 by Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Catherine is actively involved in the community with various charitable associations and works to encourage interest in the legal field both at the high school and collegiate levels. Currently, Catherine coaches the Kickapoo High School Mock Trial Team and previously assisted the Lutie High School team in Theodosia and coached the Drury University Mock Trial for several years. She volunteers legal services through the Legal Services of Southern Missouri and volunteered legal services for Joplin tornado victims. Catherine is a member of the Missouri Bar, Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, American Bar Association, National Hispanic Bar Association, and former member of the Springfield Junior League, and the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers. She is also a mentor for the Missouri State University Multicultural Services, Diversity Outreach and Recruitment, Latin American, Caribbean, and Hispanic Studies departments and has been a featured speaker at several Missouri State University diversity events.
